Overview
Valuations are the basis for setting transaction prices and managing negotiations. They are relevant in every phase of a transaction from pre-deal strategy, due diligence and negotiations, to post-deal integration. Moreover, as a result of activist shareholders, stricter corporate governance and new M&A accounting rules, deals are subject to increasing scrutiny from investors and analysts. As deals face more scrutiny, so do valuations. Business valuators are increasingly relied on and held accountable by the boards they advise, by shareholders, and by regulators and courts. Not only have business valuations become more important, they have also become more complex. Establishing the value of brands, technology and human capital, for instance, requires more sophisticated skills. And the current economic and financial market turmoil brings new valuation challenges.
The Executive Master of Business Valuation programme, a joint initiative of Duisenberg school of finance and the University of Groningen, meets the demands of today's M&A profession and will instill you with the technical competence and sound business judgment needed in your daily practice. The programme is firmly rooted in theory while also addressing practical application in each phase of an M&A transaction.
Those who complete the programme are entitled to the Master of Business Valuation degree
Objectives
Technical competence, sound business judgement
The Executive Master of Business Valuation philosophy holds that valuation professionals possess thorough theoretical knowledge and the ability to apply that theory in daily practice. In addition to undisputed technical competence, they should have authority and influence with boards, shareholders and other transaction stakeholders
Those who complete the programme will possess:
• a thorough knowledge of valuation theory, including the most recent academic research, and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice
• the ability to address valuation issues relevant in practice but not covered in textbooks
