Teaching Faculty 

The programme has been developed by Duisenberg school of finance and is taught by distinguished lecturers: 

Adj. Prof. Steven Godeke, New York University, Stern School of Business
Steven Godeke teaches Impact Investing, Microfinance and Social Entrepreneurship at New York University, Stern School of Business. He has co-authored various books on these topics such as “Solutions for Impact Investors: From Strategy to Implementation”.

Next to his academic work, Steven is an independent advisor who works with investors, foundations, corporations, and non-profit organizations to integrate their investment and philanthropic goals.

Before joining academia, Steven worked for twelve years in corporate and project finance with Deutsche Bank. He attended Purdue University where he received a B.S. in Management and a B.A. in German. He studied as a Fulbright Scholar in Cologne and has an M.P.A from Harvard University.


Prof. dr. Harry Hummels, Maastricht University, Business School
Harry Hummels is Professor of Ethics, Organisations and Society at Maastricht University. He has written extensively on subjects like Mission Related Investing, Responsible Investing, Corporate Responsibility, Organizational Ethics and the Philosophy of Work. He is a fellow of the university’s European Centre for Corporate Engagement (ECCE) and chaired the Practical Committee of the Dutch pension funds on Responsible Investing.

In addition to his work at the university, Harry is Managing Director of SNS Impact Investing. He shares this responsibility with Theo Brouwers, with whom he previously co-managed ING Bank Sustainable Investments between 1999 and 2006. Harry was member of the Executive Board of SNS Asset Management between 2006 and 2011.


Drs. Bernd Jan Sikken MAS, Duisenberg school of finance
Bernd Jan Sikken is specialized in sustainable business and investment strategies. He is co-author of the book “Financing Sustainability” (VU University Press, 2011), which explores innovative ways to finance environmental and social sustainability.

Bernd Jan leads the Finance & Sustainability programme at Duisenberg school of finance where he focuses on topics such as sustainable investing, inclusive finance, and values-based leadership. He has worked for the World Economic Forum where he led finance, sustainability, and strategic insight initiatives in close collaboration with investors, corporate executives, and policy makers. He has also worked as a strategy consultant and as an investment manager emerging markets at ING.

Bernd Jan holds a Master’s degree in Economics and an Executive Master’s degree in Global Leadership (World Economic Forum, Columbia University, INSEAD, London Business School).
