Part-time Master's Programmes

DSF’s part-time Master’s programme is for the ambitious professional who wants to get ahead, without putting his/her career on hold. Part-time studies are best undertaken with full support and flexibility from your employer since the classes occur during the daytime hours, varying from one (1) to one and a half (1,5) days per week. You can choose to study one of the following three programmes part-time: Risk Management, Finance and Law, Finance track and Finance and Law, Legal track. Additionally, you will take elective courses from the specialised classes offered in the Duisenberg Leadership Programme (DLP). The DLP certificate will only be awarded to those students who have completed all DLP courses, which is strongly recommended.

The big difference with a full-time Master is that your experience will be spread over a 2-year period. Part-time study at Duisenberg school of finance is no less challenging than full-time study, and likely even more so if you are also balancing a career. Your professional, practical experiences will greatly enrich the classroom learning experience not only for yourself, but also that of your fellow students and professors. You will also benefit from the latest theoretical knowledge and insights that your full-time classmates can provide.

What you will gain

New Thinking in Finance
Out with the old, in with the new. If there is anything the financial crisis taught us, it’s that the standard models, theories and techniques were inflexible and imperfect. As a result of the unique, close partnership between the financial industry and academia, Duisenberg school of finance is able to provide you with a stimulating breeding ground for critical, ‘new’ financial thinking and in-depth analysis. You can explore new or modified theories, practices and models, leadership and corporate governance principles, and develop a fresh outlook on the world of business and finance, as well as your role in it. Being a part-time student and a working professional, you can practice and implement the knowledge and insights gained in the classroom by applying it directly in the workplace and boardroom.

Leadership
Like your employer and most other companies and organisations, Duisenberg school of finance values strong leadership abilities, ethical behaviour and decision-making skills, as well as a mature global perspective. As a result, Duisenberg school of finance created the Duisenberg Leadership Programme (DLP). The courses offered are unprecedented for Master’s programmes and will lead you on a stimulating personal and career development journey. Courses include: Ethics in Finance; Incentives and Behavioural Finance; Professional Communication Skills; International Corporate Governance, Finance, Globalisation and Sustainability, and more. These classes will prepare you to assert yourself as a leader with integrity in your workplace.

Career Advancement
When your peers and superiors see you applying new theories and methodologies, asking probing questions and thinking outside of the box, it is only a matter of time before your newly developed skills, knowledge and confidence are noticed. As a professional in Duisenberg school of finance’s part-time programme, you can be confident that you will advance in your career as a result. Since most part-time students are employed, our Career Resource Centre (CRC) activities are optional.

During the two year part-time programme, you will learn how to best optimise and utilise your network professionally and also come to understand how your network can benefit you, as well as the value you can bring to it as well.
