Duisenberg school of finance stands for top education and research in finance
Duisenberg school of finance is a partnership between the Dutch financial sector and the Netherland’s leading universities. It aims to offer and support innovative research and first-rate academic education in core areas of finance. Our international orientation is a key feature of Duisenberg school of finance: both our faculty and students are drawn from a wide range of countries. Duisenberg school's programmes are designed for leaders in finance and are internationally competitive and taught by top faculty.
Duisenberg school of finance is currently focusing on developing its Research agenda. Our aim is to significantly expand the scope of our research and to this end we are setting up a full-fledged Research department.
We seek a highly specialized researcher able to shape our research policy in the area of behavioral finance. The candidate will need to have doctoral training at an internationally recognized research institution in this area, be aware of teh current academic frontier in this field and be actively involved in research projects with established researchers. The idela candidate has strong international orientation and should be able to rank as a strong candidate for a junior faculty position in a good research university.
Research Fellow & Project Manager (0.8 - 1 fte)
The Research Fellow and Project Manager will join the Duisenberg school of finance in Amsterdam, and will have the support not only of an internationally active research base and teaching culture, but also direct access to the knowledge and expertise of the financial sector.
Responsibilities
The Research Fellow & Project Manager will be responsible for managing various research activities that Duisenberg school of finance will perform. Accordingly, the Research Fellow & Project Manager will:
• organize seminar series on behavioral finance at international level
• coordinate research policy activities with TI and faculties
• write research papers on behavioral finance
• help organize conferences on behavioral finance
• teach a course on behavioral corporate finance
This widening of the brief will depend on the candidate and their prior experience, and should this not be within their experience, should not be a reason not to apply for the post.
The Research Fellow & Project Manager will have the opportunity to work closely with Professor Enrico Perotti, who holds the position of Research Director. In the spirit of the Duisenberg school of finance, the Research Fellow and Project Manager will also actively seek to involve leading academics from other institutions that are active in finance research, as well as industry professionals and governmental and non-governmental institutions with relevant roles or expertise in the field.
Skills and Experience
We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic track record in the field of finance, who has done research in the finance area. The candidate should also be enthusiastic about playing a part in guiding the development of the Research department at Duisenberg School of Finance.
It is expected that candidates will have recently finished their doctorates.
Appointment
The appointment will initially be for a period of 3 years. Depending on the future development of the Research department, the appointment may be extended beyond this period.
The salary will match the candidate’s responsibilities and agreed job description and will be in the range of € 4,657.00 gross per month, depending on expertise and previous experience. Other employment conditions will be favourable.
Procedure for Appointment
The appointment will be made by the Appointments Board of Duisenberg school of finance, chaired by Professor Dirk Schoenmaker, Dean the of Duisenberg school of finance, and consisting of Professor Enrico Perotti who is the Research Director and one of the Programme Directors. All applications will be acknowledged. The Board will decide how it wishes to proceed towards making an election, which may include interviews and/or presentations. The Appointments Board will consult the Academic Council of Duisenberg school of finance. Candidates will be informed of the progress of their applications as agreed by the Board. It is hoped that the successful candidate will take up the appointment as of 1 September 2010.
